Our Programs
We use kayak fishing as a form of mindful movement and time spent on the water has been proven to improve mental health. We keep our events small to make a big impact. Each outing consists of at least two VKF Guides and no more than eight Veteran attendees. We do our best to keep a 2:1 Guide to Veteran ratio to ensure that our Veteran attendees get the attention (or space) they need and deserve. We believe it's more powerful to make a big impact in the lives of a few instead of a small impact in the lives of many.
Our events are scheduled on an individual basis. If you are interested in joining us, sign up below and we will reach out to coordinate with you.
Please note that we are only able to support local (Georgia) Veterans at the moment.
River float
Spend the day floating and fishing a small stretch of the Ocmulgee River, chasing the rare Shoal Bass. On hot days you can stand in the river to fish.
Our Veteran Guides say, “there’s just something special about the river, it hits different.”

Safety First
Each of our outings includes a detailed safety brief. We begin the day with unloading equipment, going over how to safely operate a kayak, expectations for the day, and which bait to use.
Everyone we take out must be able to swim, sign a waiver, and is required to wear a personal floatation device (PFD) at all times.
All of our Senior Guides are Active or Retired Infantrymen and have therefore completed the Combat Life Saver Course. This experience informs our standard operating procedure.
